Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra is celebrating it's 35th anniversary and performing award-winning composer Alan Silvestri’s dazzling musical score of Back to the Future live on an HD big screen. The performance will be in Auckland Live's Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre, Aotea Centre on Thursday 10 September at 7:30pm.
Back to the Future is the 1.21-gigawatt blockbuster that topped the 1985 box office chart, spawned two wildly successful sequels and stamped an enduring imprint on pop culture. Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox), Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) and a time travelling DeLorean take an adventure of a lifetime, journeying to the past, present and future, and setting off a time-shattering chain reaction that disrupts the space-time continuum.
On 10 September at Auckland Live’s Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre, fans old and new will experience the thrill of Back to the Future as never before, with the brilliance of the full APO performing Silvestri’s dazzling musical score in-synch with the movie. There will also be an exclusive treat: approximately twenty minutes of brand-new music added by Silvestri to the film's score, especially for these unique live orchestra presentations.
Conductor Vincent Hardaker says,
“Most people know the film, but what many people perhaps don’t realise is that the score was quite legendary on its own. Alongside the well-known hits, like Huey Lewis’ ‘The Power of Love’, is an epic orchestral score. It’s going to be a fun night in the theatre with the APO, celebrating a cult classic.”
