Mark Pritchard

Mark Pritchard is an electronic music visionary. Since forming the Evolution label with Tom Middleton in the early '90s, Mark has worked under innumerable aliases, traversing genres with ease — from Global Communication’s seminal 76:14 album, to the bombastic bass music of Africa Hitech project, through to world-building soundscapes of his recent releases for Warp Records. Mark is your favourite artist’s favourite artist - just ask Thom Yorke, Batu, or Wiley. And as a DJ, he can’t be beat. Mark’s sets reflect his deep knowledge and restless love of exploration, and have a tendency to broadside the dancefloor with unexpected tangents, old favourites, and twisted secret weapons. He has a habit of weaving these components into something rich and unpredictable, interspersing phases of driving momentum with joyful curveballs and ruptures in the flow that jolt you back to your senses — moments that feel like coming up for air on the dancefloor. Expect an electrifying set from an untouchable talent

Telephones

Telephones is one of our favourite artists on this side of the solar-system. Over the past two decades, his sparse but highly sought-after discography on acclaimed labels like Running Back, Sex Tags UFO, and Love On The Rocks have seen him emerge as a modern torchbearer for Balearic dance music. As a DJ, he specialises in genre-bending mixes of house, cosmic and disco with a tutti-frutti twist. These sets are effervescent, playful, and bathed in sunlight - a Dionysian delight for the dancers. Let Telephones steal your heart at his New Zealand debut.

Vanessa Worm (Live)

Vanessa Worm is blowing up. The Winton-via-Melbourne superstar is behind two elastic, feverish releases on Optimo Music and Fort Romeau’s Cin Cin, which have seen her quickly gain fans like Lena Willikens, Tim Sweeney, and Eclair Fifi. Her raw live performances are renowned, recently driving crowds at Catacombs and Meredith Festival to rapturous delight. And, as part of Head Rush with fellow dance royalty Eden Burns, she exists as a vital nexus between adventurous Kiwi creatives taking over the Australian music scene. With her debut album on Optimo Music just around the corner, we just had to bring her home to New Zealand to take over the stage once more.

K2K

On the merits of her productions, a prodigiously talented yet relatively unknown k2k entered the Red Bull Music Academy in 2015. Since graduating, she has become one of the leading lights in the New Zealand dance scene. Katherine is celebrated for her fearless DJ sets, which have earned her support slots for Kevin Saunderson, Omar S, Galcher Lustwerk, and Fatboy Slim. She has also been responsible for bringing an incredible run of artists to Aotearoa, including a recent run of workshops and dances with the Discwoman collective. We’re so excited that she has chosen to round out a whirlwind summer with a triumphant set at Beacon Festival. See you front and centre.

D. Tyrone (Live)

D. Tyrone is ready for his close-up. As part of Kush Boogie, he has churned out three melodious and dancefloor-primed EPs for Lobster Theremin. Alongside the Night Pottery and Inky Waves crew, he has hosted irrepressible talents like Ciel, Chaos In The CBD, and Project Pablo, and showcased local artists to international audiences via Red Bull Radio. Dirk is also famed for his enigmatic and pumping DJ sets, both solo and alongside good buds k2k and Hugo Jay. And now, we are ecstatic to host his debut live performance. Bring a towel, it is going to get sweaty.

Good China Broadcast Group

Tim Lambourne is a story-teller. The tireless talent has been telling stories to New Zealand for over a decade, whether as a DJ, music journalist, radio host, television presenter, or photographer. During the early 2000s, he was a key face in the music landscape, introducing a generation to the wild possibilities of dance music. And then, as the national music media began to take fewer risks, becoming more bland and formulaic, he left. Tim is now based in Tokyo, surrounded by music obsessives. Under his new moniker Good China Broadcast Group, he is determined to tell quality stories to hungry audiences once more. We’re excited to have him back home, to hear him DJ about all he has discovered.

Scarlett

Scarlett is Friendly Potential’s secret weapon. The Auckland local is adept at creating the perfect party environment, both physical and aural, and has quickly earned slots playing at Splore and Laneway Festival, and opening for LSDXOXO, Valentino Mora, Nina Kraviz, & Eris Drew. She is also part of the Run With The Wolves and ninthWave Sound System crews, and helms multiple radio shows that air across Aotearoa and the UK. Scarlett champions the niche corners of dance music, and is also championed by them. No wonder Surly says that she is his favourite DJ in Auckland right now. Get to know.

Richie Hawtin (Canada)

Richie Hawtin is a genuine original. He is constantly pushing conceptual frontiers, moving things forward, welcoming as many as he can to ideas and experiences that would have seemed pure science fiction when he began his career. Hawtin is the British-born, Canada-based mind behind Plus8 and MINUS Records, which have nurtured a plethora of talent since the early 90s. And, of course, he is Plastikman, electronic musician par excellence, maintaining an underground agenda of avant-garde electronica over six albums and two compilations. Simply put, he is a leader and pioneer, and one of the electronic dance world's true intellectual forces. We cannot wait to welcome him back to New Zealand for the first time in two decades.

Nina Kraviz (Russia)

Nina Kraviz is the most famous dentist you know. She hung up her drill some time ago to collect records, make music and travel the world. Her career is so varied that it’s hard to define a particular Kraviz sound, but the passion, the spirit, and the immediacy of the music she plays always shines through. Her eponymous debut album launched her into the international consciousness, and two expansive, extraordinary mix CDs for fabric and DJ Kicks have cemented her place there. She’s recently focused on releasing her music and that of her fellow travellers on her two labels трип and Galaxiid, including singular artists like Bjarki and Shadowax. She has a wild ability to transfer the DIY spirit of her labels' work from small intimate raves in unusual locations around the globe, to mainstage spots at the world’s most revered festivals and clubs. People who attended her last shows for us know what to expect - absolutely anything.

Carista (Netherlands)

Carista’s meteoric rise has resulted in her becoming one of the most in-demand musical creatives across the globe. The Utrecht native exudes a raw passion, energy, and positivity in all she does, whether as head honcho for her imprint and party United Identities, in the booth for Red Light Radio or NTS, or at festival and club sets throughout Europe. Carista’s well-tuned ear and fervent adoration for percussive and joyous dance music persistently drive crowds into sweat-soaked reverie — qualities that led Call Super to credit her with his favourite dancefloor moment of 2018. Don’t miss out on the New Zealand debut of one of the world’s most exciting DJs.

job jobse

Job Jobse (Netherlands)

Job Jobse is one of those rare talents who has built a career simply by being a genius behind the decks. He says his time as a resident at legendary Amsterdam club Trouw taught him “everything he knows”. Now, he puts that knowledge into play at his residency at the nebulous De School in Amsterdam, as label manager for the seminal Life and Death, and as a hallowed performer in the global underground circuit. He was an absolute highlight at the first edition of Catacombs, with a Prodigy outro that left even Palms Trax speechless. Simply put, Job Jobse will save your life.

Skatebård (Norway)

Skatebård is a Norwegian disco demigod who paved the way for hallowed artists like Todd Terje and Prins Thomas. Over the past 20 years, Skatebård has forged his own truly unique dance floor sound, showcased on a ridiculous number of records for labels like Sex Tags Mania, Bordello A Parigi, and his own Digitalo Enterprises. His DJ sets are the work of a dancefloor cosmonaut who has been traversing the outer realms of sound for decades. Expect a honed, colourful, and eclectic set perfect for summer, as blistering breaks mingle with progressive house numbers, disco-dipped middle eights and italo drenched lazer records. It’s so rare that he makes it this far south, so we’re absolutely ecstatic he’s blessing us with his presence for his New Zealand debut.

Her style is expansive and immersive, drawing on a wide range of cultural and musical references, and honed through years in the booth at Sydney’s FBi Radio and clubs across Australia. Her recent relocation to Amsterdam has seen her embraced by the city of selectors, with radio shows on Red Light Radio, NTS, and Worldwide FM, as well as DJ sets for Lente Kabinet and Gottwood Festival via plenty of key European club appearances. Nice Girl (New Zealand)

Nice Girl is in ascendance. The Melbourne-based Kiwi’s vibrant and irreverent style, energy, and attitude course through her releases for Houses In Motion and Public Possession, and have seen her gain Bell Towers and Apiento as fans.
