Auckland based singer-songwriter Cecily sticks a middle finger in the air to the modern trappings of ‘who she should be’ with her debut single ‘Thinking Bout Me’. Produced by Abigail Knudson at Big Pop studios, the song represents the lone wolf, the introverted bedroom artist, those who find themselves alone on New Year’s Eve, and that is fine by Cecily.
The twenty-one-year-old evolved as a songwriter through her teenage years, performing on the front line, in bars and venues around Auckland as she found her voice. Her musical influences range from Kate Bush, to ABBA, to Marina and The Diamonds, while her own music rolls in the depths of emotional turmoil, dealing with themes of isolation, love, and relationships in a self-deprecating, cynical modus operandi.
‘Thinking Bout Me’ is anthemic autobiographical rawness for all the brave and brilliant weirdos out there. Cecily has arrived and she’s here to shake things up.
