Xavier Amin Dphrepaulezz is the son of Somalian immigrants who were devout Muslims. X was number 8 of 15 children, and when the family relocated to Oakland, California, the young man found himself selling drugs during the crack epidemic. But music saved him in the form of Prince, and he actually snuck into school in Oakland to learn music, despite not being registered. What's the opposite of truancy?
