Saturday 16th February 2019 - Meow - Wellington
Auckland based BEING. will support both Auckland and Wellington shows.
I've been a big fan of Julien baker since 'Sprained Ankle'. Being chosen to perform alongside an artist who has really inspired me as a creative is a super exciting thing - Jasmine, BEING.
BEING. is the moniker for Auckland based Indie artist Jasmine Balmer. Known for her dynamic live performances, BEING.’s music leans towards a Melancholy-Surf aesthetic as she jumps from zest-drenched Indie Pop to introspective spoken word. Sifting through 'streams of mind-mess', Her lush layers and illustrative lyric render the chaotic into a soundscape of peaceful melancholy that is 'BEING.'
Julien Baker’s solo debut album, Sprained Ankle, was one of the most widely acclaimed works of 2015. The album, recorded by an 18-year-old and her friend in only a few days, was a bleak yet hopeful, intimate document of staggering experiences and grace, centred entirely around Baker’s voice, guitar, and unblinking honesty. Sprained Ankle appeared on year-end lists everywhere from NPR Music to The AV Club to New York Magazine’s Vulture.
There is no doubt that audiences will get to experience an artist at the peak of her live powers – fresh from multiple tours of North America and Europe with her band and as a member of lauded indie supergroup boygenius alongside Lucy Dacus and Phoebe Bridges.
