Our soul man Mike Williams has been at Planet FM pushing out last Saturday's Radio 13 hour, full of great music which was recorded on Chess Records. Mike reckons Leonard and Phil Chess were visionaries. From 1950 until 1969 the Chess Brothers specialised in blues and rhythm & blues, expanding over time into soul, gospel and early rock n roll. But they also gave voice to African American artists ignored by the mainstream labels.
Kicking off with Etta James, enjoy an hour from Mike's extensive personal collection.
