Monsta Marty can have a beer in a pub in Melbourne. Freedom!!

Well, as I’m writing this, I’ve just been told I have been released from Lockdown! I can go and have a beer in a bar…well, sort of under Covid restrictions, but better than nothing!

Known for his strong tenor soulful vocals and fiery harmonica work, John Németh  returns with his new album Stronger Than Strong which is a live in the studio recording with his 3 piece band The Blue Dreamers, featuring 19 year old guitarist Jon Hay, who plays with the manner and confidence of someone with years of experience!

In fact this is a mighty impressive release…it sounds and feels as if we are in a packed blues bar with a band that are gonna play and pummel themselves and their audience into the floor way past midnight!

John  Németh has now released 10 albums, of which I have a few, but folks this latest is blowing me away with the sheer energy of its 10 original songs and 2 covers, crossing into country/blues, rock/blues, soul/blues…there are a couple of slow blues tracks, including "Bars", which drops some social commentary lyrics into the mix.

Look, we all need this music in our lives so here’s some teasers and go buy the album online, in store or digitally; listen to the band go on "Fountain Of A Man" and "Chain Breaker":

While in this groove, here’s blues singer/guitarist Shawn Pittman with his refreshingly honest album Make It Right! recorded in Denmark with father/son rhythm section Erkan and Levent Ozdemir.

This is again a live studio recording of 8 originals and 5 covers, with 3 musicians who know their stuff, when and where to put the notes/beats with nothing forced.

Shawn Pittman's playing and style is Chicago 60’s/70’s and the analog equipment used for this recording gives us that warm, tape feel and sound.

So drop into "Done Tole You So!" and "How Long":

Okay, Black Pumas released their debut self titled album in 2019, which saw them nominated for Best New Artist at this years Grammy’s and nominated for two awards at 2020 Americana: Best Duo/Group and Emerging Act.

The group are essentially Adrian Quesada, a multi instrumentalist, and singer/songwriter Eric Burton, who have combined their incredible talents to create a wonderful blend of what is described as, psychedelic soul music!

Whatever, they are a great listen…..

Their debut has just been re released with 11 bonus tracks, including 3 originals, 3 live in studio versions of tracks, a live track from a club, and 4 covers including The Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby", Bobby Blue Bland's "Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City", and Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car"!

Well worth grabbing a listen to this album again plus its bonuses! Here is "Fast Car" and "Know You Better" live:

 Enjoy!!!!
