New Music From Marty in Melbourne

Our Man in Melbourne With This Week's New Americana Offerings

Marty Blackmore

Hope everyone is keeping safe as we all come out of various stages of lockdown…….but no matter where you are or what you’re doing, there’s all these wonderful people making music for us to discover such as:

1) Casey Hensley, out of San Diego, is a 26 year old fiery red head with a huge belting blues voice. Good As Gone is her latest album which is an all original mix of Chicago, Jump, Swing Blues, and little bit of Rock!

Here’s the title track Good As Gone and You Should Be So Lucky, a long slow blues to give you an idea of where Casey will take you.

2) Darrell Scott Sings The Blues Of Hank Williams is a new album from Darrell Scott (surprise, surprise) which is pretty good effort of 9 classic songs from Hank Williams, transformed into electric Blues!

Darrell Scott has Danny Thompson on bass, Reese Wynans on Hammond B3 and drummer Marco Giovino as the main band joining his vocals and guitar work.

Try Lost Highway  and Fool About You

3)    Jason Isbell’s Reunions is his fourth album since becoming sober, over seven years ago, and that and his marriage to Amanda Shires, are very much a continuing focus on this album, which at times feels very autobiographical, but the more you listen, appears to be the foundation of another great collection of honest songs, beautifully written and played by Jason Isbell and his cracker band, The 400 Unit. Wonderful stuff!!

Listen to the Alt country singer songwriter on Overseas and Be Afraid

Okay until next time folks!
