New Zealand Opera Announces New Head Of Music

New Zealand Opera is delighted to announce the appointment of Lindy Tennent-Brown as Head of Music for the Company. A vocal coach, répétiteur, pianist and music director with twenty years’ experience that includes work for the major British opera companies including English National Opera, Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne and English Touring Opera, Tennent-Brown will begin her role with New Zealand Opera in July.

NZO General Director Thomas de Mallet Burgess says that the company is extremely fortunate in the appointment.

Lindy has a very impressive range of skills and experience at the highest level of opera and musical theatre, and we’re thrilled to have someone of her calibre join the team in this new role as we build an exciting future for opera in Aotearoa.

Tennent-Brown says that after amassing twenty years of experience working in opera in Europe, it is a pleasure and a privilege to bring that knowledge back to her home country.

The Head of Music role pulls together the various strands of my freelance career - as a vocal coach, répétiteur, music director, and mentor of young artists - and I am excited about supporting the development of kiwi singers, pianists, and composers. New Zealand Opera is at a turning point in its development as a company and I am looking forward to working under the visionary leadership of Thomas de Mallet Burgess.

NZO Director of Music Wyn Davies welcomes Tennent-Brown to the role.

“Lindy is well regarded by many leading companies, she’s sought after as a coach and is unstoppable in her enthusiasm for training young singers. She will bring her hallmark freshness to our Company and I’m sure she will make a great contribution.”
