NZ Music T-Shirt Day Launches Tomorrow!!

The New Zealand Music Foundation Wellbeing Service: Mike Chunn

Tomorrow is the inaugural New Zealand Music T-Shirt Day and plenty of famous Kiwis have lined up to pledge their support to the cause. On Friday, November 8th New Zealanders are encouraged to wear their favourite Kiwi artist or band tee and donate to MusicHelps, a charity dedicated to developing and sustaining projects that use music to help and heal people in need in our community.

The official charity of the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards, MusicHelps is a kiwi charity that has helped over 60,000 people across Aotearoa with health issues, vulnerable, disabled and who are at risk.

A slew of recognisable and respected New Zealanders has pledged their support including:

  • Television stars Erin Simpson and Ben Boyce
  • Actress Antonia Prebble
  • Musicians Shihad, Lorde, True Bliss, Six60, Split Enz, Th’ Dudes, Bailey Wiley and Louis Baker
  • Influencers China & Rain Katayanagi

With just two weeks to go until the big day, more and more New Zealanders are mobilising to encourage as many people as possible to take part.

MusicHelps General Manager Peter Dickens says he’s thrilled with the initial response to New Zealand Music T-Shirt Day from the local music industry, businesses, schools and music lovers everywhere.

“We’re pleased to see so much support for this cause from the stars of our radio, television and music industry. New Zealand Music T-Shirt Day is a flagship project MusicHelps organises in Aotearoa to raise awareness and funds to carry out vital work helping thousands of people in need around the country”

VNZMA spokesperson and Recorded Music CEO Damian Vaughan can’t wait to see New Zealanders embrace the initiative.

“We’re hoping that everyone gets behind MusicHelps and supports NZ Music T-Shirt Day - which will directly assist MusicHelps, an organisation that makes amazing projects possible around our country to help those in our community who are most in need.”

We share a common belief in the power of music to make our world a better place and I can’t wait to see NZ music t-shirts across Aotearoa tomorrow.
