Radio 13 Interview with Steve Hackett (Genesis)

David Boyle

There aren't too many guitarists around the world that haven’t been influenced by the guitar legend Steve Hackett. Just ask Brian May and Eddie Van Halen to name a few that credit Steve as one of their major idols. Steve is coming to our shores on Tuesday the 2nd of June 2020 with the Genesis Revisited Tour and spotlighting their legendary album Selling England By The Pound playing it end to end. The show will also be celebrating Steve’s first solo album Spectral Mornings recorded some 40 years ago and a smattering of other songs from both his solo career and his time with Genesis.

I had the distinct pleasure to get a rare insight on this guitar enigma and ask some questions that provided a glimpse what it was like recording and working in one of the most progressive rock bands of the era. So strap on your Fender Stratocaster and listen to a living legend share a few war stories and ditty’s that will intrigue any music lover.

Written By: David Boyle David’s day job is head of sales and marketing at Mint Asset Management. It doesn’t sound very rock and roll does it? But don’t be put off, he is passionate about music and has been nearly all his life. Better known as Boylee, he can’t sing a note in tune, remember a complete song lyric, nor play an instrument of any sort, but he does have an eye-opening knowledge of modern music and is never shy to share it with his friends and peers.
