Today, it has been announced that Elton John will perform a third and final show at Auckland’s Mt Smart Stadium, to satisfy New Zealand’s insatiable demand. The new show, scheduled to take place on Thursday 20th February 2020, will be the music icon’s sixth Farewell Yellow Brick Road New Zealand concert and last ever performance in the country. It will open for GP-sale on Wednesday 22nd May at 9am NZST.
It has also been announced that, due to a scheduling conflict, three of Elton’s sold out New Zealand concerts have been delayed by one week. Rescheduled dates affect the second show at Mission Estate Winery, and the first two Mt Smart Stadium shows in Auckland.
In a statement, Sir Elton said:
Dear friends in New Zealand,
Due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict, we have been forced to move the dates on some of my Farewell Yellow Brick Road New Zealand shows by a week. It’s unfortunate, but I hope to be able to see you all there on the new dates.
I’m so pleased to be able to announce today a third Auckland show at Mt Smart Stadium on 20th February!
I’ve always loved playing in New Zealand, and I can’t wait to return to your beautiful country in 2020 to perform for you for the last time.
Elton John’s second show at Mission Estate Winery has been delayed by a week, from Saturday 8th to Saturday 15th February 2020. His first performance at Mt Smart Stadium has moved from Sunday 9th to Sunday 16th February 2020, while the second Mt Smart Stadium show has moved from Tuesday 11th to Tuesday 18th February 2020.
All previously purchased tickets will be valid for new dates, on the corresponding day of the week.
Patrons unable to make the rescheduled concerts can secure a full refund from their point of purchase: Mission Estate Concert or Ticketmaster.
Commencing in September last year, Sir Elton John’s incredible Farewell Yellow Brick Road World Tour has taken the music legend’s swansong across North America to rave reviews, touching down for anticipated Australia-New Zealand dates from November 2019, reaching New Zealand in February 2020.
In his last ever concerts, the songs from Elton John’s legendary 50-year career will be showcased against a backdrop of never-before-seen images and videos, brand new stage production, along with a tour wardrobe designed by Italian fashion house Gucci.
He will be joined by longstanding band members Nigel Olsson on drums (part of Elton’s original three-piece band in 1970), esteemed musical director Davey Johnstone (who first recorded with Elton in 1971 and joined the band a year later) on guitar, virtuoso Ray Cooper on percussion, Matt Bissonette on bass, John Mahon on percussion, and Kim Bullard on keyboards.
More than a concert; an unforgettable memory!
